Abstract. The article updates and proves the significance of the interdisciplinary course «Changing Children in a Changing World» for those interested in knowledge about children, masters of socio-humanitarian areas of training and specialists whose professional field is somehow connected with the world of childhood. Four blocks of the course have been identified. In the first one, the issues of understanding sociality and possible interpretations of social changes are updated, since they have a significant impact on understanding changes in childhood. In the second block, childhood is considered from the position of an interdisciplinary approach with an emphasis on the achievements of modern, both domestic and foreign sociology of childhood. Questions of a methodological nature in the study of children are discussed, in particular, the significance of the «traditional» sociology of childhood and the «new» approach in the study of childhood. The third block is devoted to the analysis of trends in globalization and glocalization of childhood. The processes of McDonaldization of modern childhood: efficiency, calculation, predictability and control of children’s practices are considered under this «sauce». Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the latent consequences of the McDonaldization of childhood. The issues of global stratification of modern childhood, economic and non-economic grounds for the stratification of children, as well as the transformation of the age boundaries of childhood are touched upon. The fourth block discusses the positive and negative practices of children’s participation in public life from the point of view of interdisciplinarity. The issue of participation of children in rallies and protests is raised: as a form of activity, delinquent behavior, and/or manipulation of their behavior by unscrupulous specific adults. The author insists on the validity of the latter interpretation. The course concludes with a discussion of the implications of a participatory approach to the study of changing childhood. Summing up, the author of the article focuses on the possible tasks for students and potential groups of students — «customers» of the course.
