Abstract. The problem of the presented article is relevant due to the fact that in the run-up to globalization, the ethno-cultural identity of certain groups may be under threat. The Armenian communities of the world are working to preserve the ethnic and cultural identity of the Diaspora Armenians. This activity is aimed at preserving the ethnic traditions and numerous samples of Armenian culture, as well as maintaining relations with representatives of other ethnic and religious groups. Using the example of the Armenian community of the Saratov region «Krunk», we can trace the main trends in the activities of Armenian national and cultural associations.

National-cultural associations are those organizations that promote intra-ethnic integration among a particular national minority. The Armenian communities on the territory of the Russian Federation unite the representatives of the Armenian people in a single cell of the multinational community of the country. The preservation of cultural traditions, language, and confessional characteristics is one of the most important features of the Armenian communities not only in Russia, but also in the world-wide Armenian Diaspora.

This article examines the role of the Armenian community of the Saratov community «Krunk» in the formation of the ethno-cultural identity of the Armenians of the Saratov region. The empirical experience in the study consisted in the author’s direct participation in the cultural life of the community, in observing the cultural life of the community. The experience of participating in cultural events organized by the community (seminars, scientific and creative conferences, festivals) allowed the author to consider the Krunk community «from the inside», to identify it as a system. The topic of this article is related to the topic of the author’s candidate dissertation thesis concerning the culture of the Armenians of the Volga region in the system of ethnocultural processes of the region in the late XX – early XXI centuries.

In this article, the author answers two main questions.

1. How does the activity of the Armenian community correlate with the conditions of changing ethno-cultural processes?
2. How does its activity in these conditions affect the Armenian population of Saratov?

Based on the questions raised, we identified two research goals:

• to identify the influence of the Armenian community «Krunk» on the ethno-cultural processes of the region;
• determine the importance of education and the regulatory role of the community in creating conditions for integration.
