Formation of linguistic and cultural competence of high school students by studying ornithological content in phraseological units of the German language

Abstract. An integral feature of linguistic and cultural competence is the possession of the lexical and phraseological wealth of both the mother tongue and the foreign language. A foreign language is a means of communication and understanding and, accordingly, the use of phraseological units is an indicator of the level of language proficiency. The study of phraseology, in particular familiarization with phraseological units, contributes to a deep understanding of the nature of various types of phrases, their semantics and functioning, affects the enrichment of students ’speech with a certain baggage of apt expressions, and makes it more emotional and imaginative.

However, the formation of the linguistic and cultural competence of high school students through the assimilation of German phraseological units has not been the subject of scientific research to date. In addition, practice shows that almost no attention is paid to mastering phraseological units in secondary schools, since they focus more on enriching the vocabulary, working on pronunciation, memorizing texts by heart, etc. All of the above indicates the relevance of our study.

The purpose of the article is to study the problem of the formation of linguistic and cultural competence through the use of phraseological units of the German language that have ornithological meaning in the lessons.

To achieve the goal, the article clarifies the essence of the method of explanation and the method of exercises for mastering phraseology; An explanation of the teacher is provided for understanding the ornithological meaning of phraseological units; tasks for the system of training exercises are proposed, which include memorizing phraseological units, finding them in contexts, introducing the studied phraseological units of ornithological content into independently compiled sentences.
