Abstract. Currently, the role of social networks in the public administration system is increasing, which is confirmed by the creation and improvement of the regulatory framework for working with them by the authorities, as well as the growth of research and work on the problem. The dynamism of the development of social networks requires a systematic approach to working with them, which becomes a necessary component of modern management, which meets the needs of society of the XXI century. The article emphasizes the importance of working with social networks in modern public administration on the example of the work of public administration bodies in Moscow and the Moscow region. At the same time, the development of the use of social networks in the interaction of authorities and society requires improvement, monitoring should become the basis for this activity. Based on the work of the special application «Incident» in the Moscow region, the possibilities of using social network data in public administration are shown, examples of assistance in processing citizens’ requests using this program are given. The authors of the article note the important role of regional management centers in the implementation of a feedback system with the population. Also, the authors of the article point out the shortcomings in the work in social networks by management bodies. Based on the analysis of secondary data and a survey of public advisers of the city of Moscow, a conclusion is made about the problems in the use of social networks in the practice of working with them. The authors cite the results of a survey on the possibilities of interaction with authorities in social networks. The article proposes the process of forming a social network monitoring system for the purpose of information support of public administration, as well as the directions for determining the effectiveness of monitoring social networks in public administration, key indicators for identifying the effectiveness of monitoring are developed. The analysis of theoretical and empirical data made it possible to formulate recommendations on the formation of monitoring of the work of public administration bodies in social networks.
