Abstract. Today, culture is increasingly recognized as one of the main resources for the social and socio-economic development of the country, a fundamental factor in national security. Literature is an integral part of culture; this cannot be understood outside the integral context of the entire culture of a given era. It is unacceptable to tear it from the rest of the culture and, as is often done, directly correlate only with socio-economic factors. The literary process of that era, which was considered in isolation from a deep analysis of culture, leads to a superficial struggle between literary trends.

This article discusses modern approaches to the study of the cultural life of the region. The significance of the latter in understanding the historical past is enormous, and the study of the biography of each locality is possible only due to the expansion of knowledge about local history. It is through local history activities that the library is able to influence the social and cultural development of the city, the region, to form a sense of pride in their region, to foster a Thrifty attitude to nature and ancient monuments.
