Abstract. The heroic tales of the peoples of Central Asia are a peculiar and multi-stage phenomenon. They represent a unique tradition of «dynastic» narration and are sources for the study of the plot structure of texts of this kind. The plots of many classic epic works of Central Asian peoples are arranged according to the life cycle, giving their compositions a «serial» presentation, logically bringing them closer to real stories. The exposition of the heroic deeds of the dynasty of heroes creates the impression of a certain historicity of their epic biographies. One of the examples of this kind of artistic literature is the Altai epic tales. The similarity of the plots of Central Asian and Altai legends is largely explained by the commonality of historical processes experienced by peoples who lived in a single ethno-cultural space. A comparative analysis of epic tales demonstrates the variety of contamination of various plots based on the «dynastic» stories of heroes. In the Altai legends, contamination occurs due to the addition of additional motifs to the main plot. The main link that allows you to connect plots that are close to each other in thematic content is the same type of hero. This gives an organic completeness to a single text of contaminated plots along the line of «dynastic» stories (grandfather — father — son — grandson). The tendency to complicate the plot by adding additional epic motifs contributes to the evolution of the plots of epic tales. At the same time, the logic of the plot development is not violated, within the framework of the established tradition, the plot is lengthened due to the new exploits of the hero’s heirs. The main feature of the characteristics of the epic hero is the manifestation of his heroic strength. The expansion of plot actions and the lengthening of the plot course due to the coupling of parts about the subsequent representative of the «dynasty» are included in the compositional system of epic works and are also complemented by a number of poetic means and techniques, noted by researchers as «topos of duration», which gives the epic tale a large scale and indirect correlation with historical reality.
