Abstract. The issue of identity draws a lot of attention from various sciences such as sociology, psychology, philosophy. Special attention is drawn to the problematics of identity by linguistics. Such identities as national, ethnic, or gender, have been studied quite well while generational identity has not been studied extensively. This article is devoted to the exploration of the issue of verbal presentation of generational identity. The goal of the article is to look at and systematize speech formulas of presentation of generational identity used by the speakers during the communication process. Examples taken from the National Corpora of the Russian Language and the Internet serve as the basis for analysis. Identity models can be divided into simple one-component and complex multicomponent models. Simple models present only generational identity. Complex models verbalize several identities simultaneously selected by the speaker during the communication process as based on the urgency of a specific identity. Complex models combine generational identity with gender or professional identity. Self-identification is demonstrated through full identification with the generational cohort or by joining a generation. Speech formulas consist of personal or possessive pronouns, the lexeme «generation» and the socionim. Speech formulas demonstrate the priority of the addresser or the generation in the process of generational self-identification. The choice of the formula shows the degree of unity of the speaker with the generation.

Keywords: speech formula; identity; generation; discourse; self-presentation; communicant; socionim
