Analysis of culturological features of the originality of Russia in Russian literature

Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the cultural features of the identity of Russia in Russian literature. The author pays special attention to the aspect of the origin of individual elements of identity and cultural identity from the perspective of Russian literature. Approaches to the definition of the term «identity» from the standpoint of cultural studies are revealed; an overview of existing theories of Russia’s cultural identity and its spiritual and cultural self-determination is given. The culturological significance of the elements of identity for various fields of knowledge is shown. The historical process of its development is of considerable importance in the formation of the original culture of the country. It is stated that the identity of Russia is a complex concept that unites many cultural aspects and factors. It is noted that one of the sources of knowledge and ideas about the distinctive features of Russia is literature. The key theses about the identity of Russia, presented by the authors noted below, are identified and a list of prerequisites for the formation of a special Russian culture and mentality is given. Its distinctive features and possible influence on the mentality of the Russian person during the historical time slice are shown. The role of the religious factor for the identification of the essential features of identity is determined. The special significance and influence of religious factors on the mentality of the Russian population is noted. The special important role of Orthodox culture is noted, the features characteristic of Russian Orthodoxy are highlighted. The special features of the Russian mentality that have contributed to Russian literature are noted, such as collectivism, respect for elders, conciliarity, spirituality, adherence to traditions and many others. Using concrete examples from the works of M. Sholokhov, F.I. Tyutchev, A.S. Pushkin, L.N. Tolstoy, the characteristic features of Russian culture that determine the specifics of its identity are considered.
