Abstract. The article is devoted to issues related to the promotion of Chinese culture and the Chinese language, in particular, in the Russian education system against the background of a significant strategic partnership between the two powers. A brief retrospection of relations between states is presented, China’s educational policy towards Russia at the present stage is analyzed, the purpose of which is to form a positive image of China and its humanitarian promotion against the background of the «soft power» policy.

The authors of the article introduce the strategy of the Chinese government, according to which a global educational modernization is being carried out, based on the internationalization of higher education and the technologization of the process of obtaining knowledge. Using the internationalization of higher education as the basis of its policy, China puts forward clear requirements for the introduction of first-class foreign educational resources, thereby opening the field of education to the outside world.

The article examines the regulatory framework providing for educational cooperation between the two powers; highlights the key areas of interuniversity cooperation, provides statistical data on the number of universities actively operating today in the PRC and the Russian Federation.

The removal of the language barrier between the peoples of China and Russia, as well as the training of highly qualified specialists today is the foundation of the strategic ideas of the megaproject «One Belt, One Road».

The analysis allows us to conclude that the modern cooperation between the two powers has a multi-vector character, interest in the study of Chinese language and culture in Russia is growing intensively, the exchange of linguistic culture between peoples is becoming more in demand. This makes it possible to predict the vector of further cultural and educational interaction between peoples who have been geopolitical allies for more than 70 years.
