Abstract. The article addresses the topical issue of integrating contemporary art into the educational process. It examines the challenges of biased attitudes toward contemporary art in schools and their impact on the moral and spiritual development of students. Particular attention is given to methodological approaches to teaching this subject, including distinctions between «contemporary» and «current» art and strategies for fostering critical thinking and emotional receptivity in students. The author emphasizes the importance of this topic in cultivating socially and culturally competent individuals, highlighting the need to account for modern trends and technological advancements. The article includes an analysis of educational programs and teaching materials, identifying gaps in their content related to the neglect of contemporary art movements. Key aspects of perceiving contemporary art are explored, including its emotional impact, stereotypes, cultural context, and connections to classical art. The author concludes that adapting teaching approaches is essential to broaden students’ cultural horizons and enhance their creative thinking. The paper highlights the role of contemporary art as a tool for shaping aesthetic and moral values.
