Abstract. The article examines the features of empirical knowledge on traditional Kalmyk medicine. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that based on field materials that were collected during expeditions in the regions of the Republic of Kalmykia and the city of Elista in the period 2012–2017, 2019–2023. A study was conducted on various traditional methods of treatment by traditional healers and chiropractors. The article reveals the original and unique folk healing practice of chiropractors, for the interpretation of which scientific-descriptive, comparative-historical, retrospective, systemic and historical-typological research methods were used. The purpose of the study is to introduce into scientific circulation authentic material from traditional healers and chiropractors for subsequent study at an interdisciplinary level. The material for the study was field materials recorded during the period 2012–2017, 2019–2023. in various settlements of the Republic of Kalmykia about folk methods of healing practice of chiropractors. The results of the study were oral narratives about the folk methods of healing practice of chiropractors, which are accompanied by a translation of the original text into Russian. The article provides a brief overview of the methods of oral transmission of empirical knowledge of Kalmyks in the field of healing practice of chiropractors. The authors conclude that the phenomenon of traditional healers and chiropractors is an integral part of the traditional culture of the Kalmyk ethnic group. The analyzed field material gives an idea of the folk healing practice of chiropractors, passed down orally from generation to generation. The material presented in this article can be used to create an information database of traditional medicine resources in Kalmykia and in the modern healthcare system.
