On the question of strategies for the semantization of a meaningless statement (based on A. Kruchenykh’s interpretations of «bullet holes»)

Abstract. In the article, on the material of scientific and critical interpretations of A. Kruchenykh’s poem «the holes of the bulls…» are revealed the models (strategies) of interpretation of the senseless text. Consideration of the texts without conventional semantics from the point of view of their potential interpretations is of interest for linguistics, since the work of the interpreter with such a text exposes the action of the existing mechanisms of interpretation, as well as actualizes the peripheral mechanisms, which do not play a special role in the case of texts that do not deviate from the general usus and expectations. A. Kruchenykh’s poem is of special interest in this respect, since a wide range of interpretations developed in different contexts on the basis of different evaluation and theoretical positions have formed around it. The analysis highlights the model of intra- and interlinguistic correspondence, the intertextual model, the «metaplasm» model, the «sound imitation/sound» model, the «cipher» model and the «communicative action» model. The proposed classification of models is not consistent, since in some cases, the models singled out overlap and imply different points of view on the same material (for example, the model of intra- and interlinguistic correspondence and the intertextual model refer to the interpretative background, while the model «metaplasm» – to the method of text creation, all these models relate to almost identical facts and material); moreover, interpreters do not always rely on the same model of interpretation. The author comes to the conclusion that neither one of these models, nor all of them in the aggregate, are able to give a final interpretation, which is due to the initial intentions of the author.
