Abstract. The article presents the results of a sociological study on the attitudes towards sexual behavior among young people in Ishim. A total of 169 people participated in the survey. The purpose of the study was to identify the characteristics of sexual culture and reproductive attitudes among students of the P.P. Ershov Institute of Pedagogical Education (branch) of Tyumen State University aged 19 to 22. The relevance of the topic lies in the need to understand current trends in intimate relationships, including the prevention of reproductive health and the readiness of future teachers to communicate with their partners. Among the 29 research questions are the preferred timing of starting a sexual relationship after meeting, attitudes towards premarital relationships, the level of willingness of respondents to discuss health issues and sexual preferences, and the methods of contraception used for the first time and currently. The study was conducted using an anonymous questionnaire, and the responses were analyzed.
The authors conclude that the sexual culture of modern students is internally contradictory. It has been established that the spontaneous formation of ideas about sexuality and the relatively early onset of sexual activity in the minds of future teachers combine liberal behavioral practices and a commitment to traditional family values, which is expressed in a negative attitude towards infidelity and reproductive plans for starting a family. However, access to information does not guarantee a responsible attitude towards health, as a significant number of students use unreliable contraceptive methods.
The findings highlight the importance of developing professional competencies for future teachers in the field of sexuality education and family relations, and can be used in the development of educational programs in the areas of sexuality education and family relations. Based on the findings, recommendations for the development of educational programs in the field of sexuality education have been proposed.
