Abstract. The article discusses geographical terms denoting — crossings, fords, bridges, ponds, dams belonging to different dialects of the eastern dialect of the Tatar language. The purpose of the study is to describe geographical terms, study the principles of nomination, phonetic features and the dissemination of terms in dialects and dialects of the Tatar language and in other languages. The material for the study was collected by the author during scientific expeditions. Based on the materials recorded during the expedition, a card index of geographical terms, toponyms and microtoponyms for the settlements of the Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk regions was compiled. Part of the lexical material is introduced into scientific use for the first time.

The analysis of toponymic vocabulary shows that geographical terms denoting crossings and bridges are numerous and actively used in all dialects of the eastern dialect of the Tatar language. Some of the terms are common to all ethnic groups of the Tatar people, some are found only in certain dialects. Generic terms are found in many Turkic languages and go back to the ancient Turkic language. Phonetic variants of geographical terms are used in different dialects, for example: кицү, кичү (crossing), көпере, күбер, кипрү, көпрү, күмрәү, күпре, күперәк (bridge), бөйә, бийә, бүwә, буwа, бума, бөгә, бүгә (pond).

Some geographical terms are borrowed from the Russian language. There are also the use of geographical terms in Tatar and Russian at the same time.

The study reveals the peculiarities of the connection of geographical terms with toponyms and microtoponyms of Western Siberia. Some geographical terms are used as microtoponyms.

The results of the research will be useful for such branches of science as toponymy, dialectology, history and linguistics in general.
