Abstract. In the scientific electronic library is 328 works (journal articles, theses, scientific publications), the title of which contains the notion of the «Russian cultural idea of 1917». You can say that this topic is sanctified not only Russian, but also Western historians and sociologists. However, the relevance of this question is the fact that in the period of political transformations (in our case, revolutions, 1917) is a reassessment of all property in the state, including cultural. The February revolution still causes many and very conflicting cultural interpretations. In this regard, I think it is important and necessary to refer to accumulated knowledge and to make a comparative analysis of what happened after the revolutions of 1917, changes in the sphere of culture. We can distinguish the following objectives of this work:

  • defining characteristics of cultural anthropology in Russia;
  • study the main ideas and directions of the Russian cultural thoughts before and after 1917 and their comparison;
  • assessment of the impact of the revolutions of 1917 the formation of the Russian cultural thought, highlighting positive and negative traits of this stage of development.

For the analysis and synthesis of the ideas of the Russian cultural thoughts before and after 1917, was studied the work of P. Ya. Chaadaev, «Philosophical letters», Danilevsky N. I. «Russia and Europe», Berdyaev N. A. «The fate of Russia» and «Russian idea», Ilyina I. A. «About the future of Russia», as well as numerous articles on the subject: Batalov D. A. «the Russian idea. From the origins to our days,» Bogdanov A.V. «P. Y. Chaadaev as a critic of the concepts of Slavophilism», Timofeev M. S. «H. I. Danilevsky and civilized foundations of a strong Russian state» and others.

In the analysis of literary sources on the issue of the Russian cultural thoughts before and after 1917, we can conclude that this theme is developed in detail, but the consensus about the quality of the influence of the ideas of the time on the culture of Russia has not developed, there is much controversy and debate on this matter.
