Abstract. The article is of a scientific and journalistic nature and analyzes the nature of the holiday phenomenon from the point of view of the degree of control of processes taking place at the time of its implementation. The author puts forward a number of provisions that may explain the difficulty of predicting the course of festive relations. The holiday is studied in the coordinates of synergy: in particular, the assumption is made about the existence of nuclear processes, as a result of which the holiday becomes a closed-to-self system. In addition, the holiday is proposed to be analyzed as a complex system, with a large number of degrees of freedom.
These assumptions go through the justification through a set of theses that contain an analysis of phenomena that reduce the degree of control over celebrants. The author analyses the phenomenon of play, spectacle, manifestations of socialization and inculturation, the possibility of modeling the holiday in the context of historical experience, etc.
The author proposes a number of approaches that contribute to the control of the nuclear processes taking place in the holiday, in this regard correlates the balance of «game» and «non-game» in the «holiday territory». To do this, the «non-player» component is isolated, which is considered as a channel of behavior standards. The nature and possibilities of the «non-player» are analyzed from the point of view of influencing social change.
The author clarifies the nature of the concept of «political exploitation of the holiday», distinguishes between it and the concept of «socio-political holiday».
Correlating «game» and «non-game», the author speaks about the likelihood of the holiday developing into a riot.
The article expresses an opinion on the factors directly and indirectly affecting the course of the festive action.
