In the article, the authors conduct a detailed analysis of the content of the concept of «well-being», identify its structural elements in the form of objective well-being and subjective well-being, pay special attention to the role of subjective well-being in the realities of modern society, the relationship of this social phenomenon with the activities of various social institutions. The paper reflects the role of the activities of social services in improving and preserving the basic guarantees of the full-fledged life of children and families who find themselves in a difficult life situation. To study the level of subjective well-being of children left without parental care, who are in social rehabilitation centers in Novokuznetsk, the authors conducted a sociological study. In particular, the test survey «Scale of subjective well-being» was conducted according to the Perrudet-Badoux, Mendelssohn and Chiche methodology in the adaptation of V.M. Sokolova upon admission of a minor to a social rehabilitation center and repeated control testing was carried out at the end of rehabilitation measures. The conducted research shows the inseparable connection of the selected complexes of various social processes and interactions with life satisfaction, their influence on the level of subjective well-being. The results of repeated final testing showed a positive effect of rehabilitation measures carried out in the conditions of a social rehabilitation center: the children’s emotional background improved, self-esteem and trust in others increased, emotional self-control significantly improved, flexibility, sociability and confidence in the future began to appear. The authors note that the formation of subjective well-being of minors is the main task of the center, and the process of social rehabilitation can be considered as a procedural technology for the formation of subjective well-being of minors.
