Abstract. The purpose of the article is to analyze the key changes in the sphere of patriotic education of children and youth with their qualitative pedagogical and ideological characteristics, to consider current trends and promising directions of the development of citizenship. The importance of decisions taken by the authorities in the field of youth policy, and capable of protecting the cultural, political, economic foundations of the life support of society and upholding national values, is emphasized. The authors of the article pay special attention to the need to actualize the issues of civil and patriotic education of the younger generation of Russia in the conditions of the new world order.
