Abstract. The authors present an attempt to analyze various trends in the use of the Museum object in the past and today. This is largely due to the increasing role of both the museums themselves and the objects stored in them in the life of modern society. In addition, there is a need to further explore the use of such items. At the same time, various aspects of the use of Museum objects were studied – the disclosure of the information contained in them, the preservation of social memory, communication, educational activities, ideological influence on people. The article notes that the possibilities of their use are very diverse. This diversity is even more increasing nowadays, increasing the importance of Museum objects for the society and its culture. Special attention of the author is paid to the role and place of Museum funds, which, as is known, work almost all scientific departments of museums. The importance of stock work, which is directly focused on the study, preservation, and the maximum possible use of Museum objects. Also here is the idea that the degree of use of Museum funds and Museum items stored there to a large extent depends on the completeness and diversity of their study. The article concludes that:

• trends in the use of Museum objects are changing due to the changes taking place in society;
• the main ones are: disclosure of information contained in Museum objects, their use as keepers of social memory, the implementation of communicative and educational opportunities of Museum objects;
• the implementation of their ideological function.
