Abstract. The article presents the results of sociological research of electoral activity of young people in Altai Krai. A quota sampling method was used in the study. As the General population was the population of the Altai region at the age from 14 to 30 years. The interest of young people in the electoral process and the elections themselves should cover the maximum number of voters, since the fewer citizens participate in the elections, the more reason to assume that the existing power does not fully reflect the interests of the society. It is revealed that among the youth of the Altai territory, there is a persistent distrust of the institution of elections, and in recent years it has even increased. The results of the study indicate that young people do not consider elections as a tool to solve any problems. According to a poll conducted in the Altai region among young people, more than half of the respondents are neutral about the electoral process and elections in particular.
The factors determining the attitude of young people to elections are revealed. The article substantiates that it is necessary to adopt an active policy aimed not only at involving young people in the electoral process, but also at increasing the level of political activity of young people.
On the basis of the conducted research the main directions of work on the formation of the civic position of young voters are identified: youth forums of different orientation; organization of conferences, thematic events, conversations and debates; active involvement of young people in the electoral process, including as observers; youth camps; selfie at polling stations.
Keywords: young people; elections; electoral activity; electoral process; political activity; civic position; youth Parliament; poll
