Abstract. The article considers the results of the content analysis of the published materials for 2017–2018 in the publications «Rossiyskaya Gazeta» and «Kommersant». The methodology of content analysis using specialized software, the stages of the study. Shows a method of constructing models of text and criteria of its evaluation. Using the Lecta program, the text files were divided into fragments of 100 (+/-20) words, creating a dictionary (categorical grid) of texts. On the basis of the dictionary, semantic chains of lexemes were created, which belong to a single problem and were later used to encode texts. The unit of account was a token, and the unit of analysis were fragments of texts of analyzed publications. The criterion of informativeness of the unit of text analysis was the ratio of the number of words (lexemes) included in the dictionary and contained in the unit of analysis to the number of words from which the analyzed text fragment is formed. The value of the criterion by which the informativeness of the unit of analysis was estimated, the frequency in the range from 5 % to 50 % was accepted. The criterion of informativeness of the model was an indicator of the ratio of the size of the created dictionary to the total number of words of the source text (the created dictionary with the integration of words into lexemes should be about 30 % of the number of words in the analyzed text). The obtained and optimized model of texts was subjected to factor analysis. The main focus of the publications of the Russian newspaper is information about the development of production, which are based on modern technologies, the formation of regional development programs about the implementation of investment projects, the creation and development of Territories of advanced socio-economic development. Unlike the Russian newspaper, the materials of the Kommersant newspaper are mostly aimed at covering the growth rate of the Russian economy, the role of various industries in this (agriculture). It is emphasized that the negative factors affecting economic growth are corruption and the shadow economy. Tax and budget policy is considered in terms of its impact on the incomes of citizens and the development of small and medium-sized businesses. According to the results of the study, the conclusions about the main and important topics of the articles, as well as the features of the publication policy of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta and Kommersant newspaper are formulated.
