Abstract. Analyzes axiological and pragmatic functions of modern humor. It is shown that humor is most evident, the ability of consciousness to sandersonii in a practical and adaptive purposes, for example, through the explication of all the implicit consequences, with the aim of increasing flexibility and receptivity to the changes occurring in the modern world. The needs of modern social development is characterized by radical transformations of the human being, the formation of a new system of value orientations of personality. In this regard, for the modern world community is characterized by a significant increase in interest in personality in the process of interaction with the social environment. Humor is one of the essential bases for the personal-existential and social self-determination in a situation of value-normative uncertainty, moving from ontological culturally specific pragmatic. The problem of studying the functions of humor as one of the essential manifestations of public rights in the basic spheres of life, such as morality and ethics is one of the Central because it focuses on the anthropological priorities, effectively performing the social and communicative processes.

The novelty of the author’s approach to analysis of humor is to consider humor as one of the essential bases for the personal-existential and social self-determination in a situation of value-normative uncertainty, on the verge of moving comic in the form of statements of ontological culturally specific pragmatic. The problem of studying the functions of humor as one of the essential manifestations of public rights in the basic spheres of existence is one of the Central because it focuses primarily on anthropological priorities in the socio-communicative processes.

Axiological and pragmatic functions of humor manifested in a significant range from friendly to aggressive humor. The scope of the manifestation of humour as wide. It could be politics, both internal and external; corporate ethics; safety in various situations, for example, at the airport (pre-flight inspection) the same security on the highways, etc.
