Abstract. This article is devoted to the analysis of the bound word combinations with the coloronym red. The cognitive aspects of semantic mechanisms of such word combinations and the associative series, forming the integrative fields of these bound word combinations are analyzed, the forming connotative meanings of the coloronym red are defined. The authors analyze the mechanisms of their determination, distinguish and categorize both the underlying universal symbolism and socio-political and cultural realia of English speaking communities. Universal and socio-cultural determinants of the formation of bound word combinations with the coloronym red are defined and categorized. The authors distinguish a separate category with the bound word combinations including the coloronym red whose integrative field has a combined nature, that is the overlapping of the universal symbolism and socio-political and cultural realia in historic context on the basis of metonymic-metaphorical transfer. The relevance of the topic is predetermined by the lack of the research in the area of the influence of the axiological worldview of English speaking communities representatives on the formation of the bound word combinations with the coloronym red as well as formative semantic mechanisms of the integrative fields of the bound word combinations in question. To these goals the authors employ descriptive method, method of dictionary definitions analysis, cognitive analysis, discourse analysis, axiological analysis. According to the result of their research the authors come to the conclusion that the study of the connotative meanings of the bound word combinations with coloronyms is essential for the study of axiological worldview of English speaking communities, which serves to better understanding between people.
