Abstract. In linguistics, there is a desire to more fully and deeper explore the semantic features of verbal lexemes as a special class of words that characterize the features of objects and their relationships. Classification of verbs by lexical-semantic groups allows you to more fully illuminate the content features of verbs and, in this regard, to solve the issue of the hierarchical structure of verbs. The article reveals the features of the semantic classification of verbs that characterize activity and action on the material of the Yakut language. Activity is a process of conscious active interaction of a subject with an object, during which the subject, acting on the object, reaches the goal. The structure of activity has a subject of activity, an object (nature, objects, phenomena and processes in society, etc.), a motive (needs, interests, beliefs, ideals, emotions, etc.), a goal, means, a process and a result. All human activity consists of a series of constant actions, i.e. a process that aims to achieve a result. In the article, the verbs are divided into subgroups of verbs of creative activity and verbs with the meaning of the causation of changing objects. Verb lexemes with the general semantics of creative activity and causation of changing objects are further divided into microgroups according to various particular meanings. The study uses a lexico-semantic approach, the classification of words is carried out by the method of frontal analysis of the lexical array selected for this purpose from lexicographic sources. It was revealed that verbs of action and verbs of activity differ in their influence on the object by their internal semantics. Action verbs express deliberate activity towards achieving a conscious goal (changing the shape, surface, position, etc., changing the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of objects). Activity verbs denote an impact on an object in order to result in the appearance of a new object.
