Abstract. The article investigates the effectiveness of using online platforms for learning English among software developers; explains the relevance of the topic by the needs of the modern global information technology market, where mastering specialized terminology plays a crucial role in achieving professional success. The study conducts a comparative analysis of popular platforms such as Slang, Cisco Networking Academy, and the «English for Tech Professionals course on Coursera. The main aim of the research is to evaluate their contribution to developing professional communication skills among information technology professionals. The analysis of user experience and a review of the key advantages and limitations of each platform show that specialized solutions have a more significant positive impact compared to general educational programs. The results of a survey conducted among information technology professionals confirm that platforms like Coursera, Cisco Networking Academy, and Slang help improve skills in reading technical documentation, participating in international meetings, and presenting research findings. However, respondents also point out some shortcomings, highlighting the need for further improvement of the course to meet the needs of various professional groups.
