Actualization of taxis in the German language

Abstract. This article is devoted to the issue of actualization of taxis in the German language. The taxis actualization is understanding as the realisation of chronological meanings of simultaneity and non-simultaneity in the syntagmatic context.

The research was conducted in order to describe the various taxis markers and actualizer of primary taxis and secondary taxis categorical meanings of simultaneity and non- simultaneity.

The main purpose of this article is to describe the various taxis categorial meanings in the German language.

The taxis categorical meanings of simultaneity and non-simultaneity are actualized in the German statements containing prepositional deverbatives with taxis prepositions of temporal (mono-temporal/inclusive-temporal) and adverbial semantics.

Prepositions act as taxis markers. The taxis prepositions of mono-temporal and inclusive-temporal semantics mark the primary-taxis categorial meanings of simultaneity, precedence and following, and the taxis prepositions of adverbial semantics mark secondary-taxis categorial meanings of simultaneity. Prepositional deverbatives act as the various taxis actualizers of simultaneity and non-simultaneity.

In the course of the study, it was found that the primary taxis meanings of simultaneity and non-simultaneity are actualized in the statements containing deverbatives with taxis prepositions of temporal semantics während, seit, nach, vor, bei, in, mit. The meanings of the secondary taxis of simultaneity are actualized in the statements containing deverbatives with taxis prepositions of adverbial semantics mit, durch, mittels, trotz, ungeachtet, wegen, vor, infolge, zu, für. The taxis prepositions are in modal, instrumental, conditional, causal, concessive, consecutive and final semantics and mark the various types of secondary taxis — modal, instrumental, medial, conditional, casual etc.
