Abstract. The article discusses the features of the semantic and syntactic representation of the concept «love» in the Japanese language. Using methods of lexicographic and corpus analysis, as well as extended contextual analysis of corpus units, the semantic structure of several nuclear units of this semantic field is clarified and supplemented. The results of the analysis of the generalized typified linguistic experience of Japanese native speakers help to determine their stable cognitive preferences when choosing words related to the concept «love». This paper was carried out on the material of several corpora, including data from the author’s parallel Russian-Japanese corpus of fiction works, in which original sentences from fourteen Russian fiction texts and their Japanese correlates are documented and syntactically annotated. The study reveals three main semantic dominants that characterize various lexemes included in the semantic field «love»: the opposition of spiritual and physical components; varying degrees of severity of physical and emotional impact on the participants in the situation; the presence or absence of negative connotations in the semantic structure of lexemes. In the practical part of the work, based on the corpus research methods, it is clarified how the selected semantic characteristics influence the distribution of actant roles and determine the peculiarities of the functioning of lexemes with the meaning «love» in original and translated Japanese texts. Besides, this paper analyzes cases of the use of lexemes with the meaning «love» of the subject position in the beneficial constructions, and also raises the issue of the possibility of gender analysis of parallel Russian-Japanese texts.
