Abstract. This article presents a theoretical analysis on the problem of determining the image of a “real” man in modern Russia. The relevance of the issues under consideration is ensured by the debatability and insufficient development of ideas about a modern man, taking into account gender, social and political roles, stereotyped views on the content characteristics of a “real” man in society. As well as understanding the leading characteristics of the image of a man and the components of exactly the desired, ideal image of a “real” man. The following questions are of research interest: what is the social role of a man today in a constantly transforming world, what social roles does he perform in various spheres of society, what properties are endowed with the image of a “real” man today, that is, what does the status characteristic of a man look like in modern Russian society. The author presents a theoretical analysis of the image of a man in three areas — politics, work and family. The purpose of the study was to identify the leading characteristics corresponding to the ideas about the features of a “real” man in these social spheres. The article reflects the vision of the image of a real man both from the point of view of the traditional socio-cultural space and modern society. Key features are identified, including, among other things, behavior, deeds, actions and beliefs. It is determined that in general, ideas about the image of a real man are identical to each other and have a considerable traditional worldview orientation. Opinions about what it means to be a real man differ epochally and evolve, directly dependent on the transformations and transformations of political regimes, global markets, and social processes. To a greater extent, politics today remains the world of men, in which it can fully realize itself as a certain gender archetype. In other areas — family and work, the image of a man is rapidly blurring against the backdrop of high female competition.
