Abstract. The article is devoted to the consideration of ways of representing foster parenthood, broadcast in Russian Internet media. Appeal to the views of P. Berger, T. Lukman allowed the author to analyze the process of developing the attitude of the population to social phenomena and processes as a proposed media construct. The use of the ideas of P. Ibarra, D. Kitsuse contributes to the understanding of the principles of the formation of the rhetoric of discourses about the phenomena of society, which were applied in the focus of the interpretation of information content on the topic of foster families. The categorization of social problems according to G. Bloomer made it possible to assess the specifics of presenting various aspects of foster parenthood as mechanisms for fixing positive or negative characteristics of childhood social ties. Based on the concept of stigma proposed by I. Hoffman, the influence of stereotypical judgments broadcast in the media on the formation of negative ideas about foster families was considered. Based on the qualitative and quantitative content analysis of publications posted in the online media during the pandemic, the author’s systematization of current representation trends is formulated. The dominant representational strategies that form the discursive field around the topic of foster parenting are identified and interpreted. Topics are identified that, based on the results of text analysis, require more detailed and thorough elaboration and systematic coverage in the public space. Proposals are formulated aimed at revising existing approaches to organizing information support for the institution of foster parenthood.
