Abstract. The article deals with the analysis of the process of determinologization of special vocabulary in modern Dagestan languages. Two main directions of this phenomenon are under study – simplification of the semantic structure of the term and its metaphoric use, with the resultant use of terminological vocabulary to denote the social, everyday notions.
The relevance of our article is due to the fact that determinologization, in comparison with terminologization, is studied in Dagestan linguistics to a lesser extent, and the connection of determinologization with such a linguistic phenomenon as the metaphorization of the word has not yet been the object of a certain linguistic study. The purpose of the article is to consider the process of determinologization in terms of changing the semantics of lexical units in terms of simplification and figurative use.
The results of our study reveal that the penetration of special terms in the social sphere is due to several factors: first, the development of scientific, technical and socio-economic state of society, secondly, the extension of cultural and civilizational experience, which contributes to an increase in the amount of information denoted by the term, and thirdly, the complexity of the term cognitive structure. It is obvious that currently the process of determinologization is a very productive and complex phenomenon. The future study will focuse on identifying the mechanisms of determinologization in various spheres of Dagestan vocabulary and stylistic peculiarities of the studied units in the functional aspect.
