Subjective evaluation suffixes in dialect nouns

Abstract. The article analyzes suffixes of subjective evaluation of dialect nouns. Relevance of the article is determined by objective necessity of continuous research of dialects and dialect formation. In the introduction, the author notes the interest of scholars in dialect word formation and points to the lack of development of this issue in linguistic science. Subject of study-suffixes of subjective estimation in dialect nouns denoting landscape names. These landscape names are used by residents of Karelia and adjacent regions: Murmansk, partially Leningrad, Vologda, Arkhangelsk, Novgorod, Tver. The author uses descriptive and semantic methods as methods of investigation. The author chose «Dictionary of Russian Dialects of Karelia and Adjoining Regions» as the base of research. Subjective suffixes are widespread in Russian and have high productivity. These suffixes are distinguished into a special group and denote the same objects as nouns producing, so they are attached only to basic noun names. The article reveals the specificity of the process of word formation in dialect nouns, denoting landscape names, having subjective assessment suffixes; the analysis of nouns with subjective assessment suffixes in order to identify the desematisation and preserve the value of subjective evaluation; the word-forming types of nouns with subjective evaluation suffixes are defined; the degree of productivity and unproductiveness of suffixes of subjective assessment in a given stratum of dialect vocabulary has been determined. In conclusion, the author draws conclusions about the degree of multiplicity of groups of nouns denoting landscape names represented in the lexicographic source; the degree of productivity of subjective assessment suffixes: productive, unproductive; number of lexicogrammatical categories of motivating nouns. The results obtained by the author of the article can be used in the conduct of nursing classes, seminars, practical exercises, special courses in Russian dialectology.
