Abstract. In recent decades, a fairly large number of studies have appeared devoted to the study of the creativity of regional poets in the context of solving the problem of interaction between language and culture. And here, of particular importance is the study of the individual linguistic artistic picture of the world of authors who, perhaps, did not receive wide fame in literature, but, nevertheless, incorporated the Russian literary tradition into their work and at the same time captured their individual worldview in the artistic text, which can be conceptualized as ethnoculturally determined.

This article examines the features of the idiostyle of the 20th century Belgorod poet Nikolai Gladkikh, manifested in the author’s use of folklore and religious vocabulary. Linguocultural analysis of lexemes showed that, despite the limited heritage of this poet available to readers, the published texts indicate that the author’s associations, the transformation of traditional elements through the author’s reading of folk symbols and intra-contextual semantic increments are largely based on the poet’s aspiration to the cultural past, on the awareness of one’s own origins and are determined not only by the intention and motives of poetic plots, but also by the intentional appeal of the author — a linguist by training — to precedent lexical phenomena that determine the poet’s «Russian» view of the surrounding reality.

As a result, N. Gladkikh’s poetic picture of the world is consistently objectified with the help of linguistic means that establish a connection between the individual author’s vision and the folklore and religious pictures of the world. At the same time, in preserving the historical relationship of modernity with the past, N. Gladkikh’s adherence to the Russian literary tradition is revealed. In this regard, the goal of our work is a linguoculturological description of the linguistic means that function in the lyrics of the Belgorod poet and which we qualify as folklorisms and religionyms. It is in mythological and folklore symbols that the national and idiostyle specificity of N. Gladkikh’s lyrical system is most clearly reflected.
