Functional and semantic characteristics of the key lexeme-representative of the concept “persistence” in object syntactic relations (based on the material of newspaper texts)

Abstract. The research is devoted to the study of the linguistic representation of the concept “persistence” in the Russian linguistic picture of the world. The work is carried out within the framework of semantic-cognitive and communicative-discursive approaches to linguistic phenomena, which are relevant and promising in modern linguistics. The author pays attention to identifying the semantic content of the concept “persistence”, represented by object word-combinations with the key lexeme-representative of the concept. The research is based on the idea that the compatibility of lexical units is largely determined by non-linguistic factors, among which the cognitive factor, which reflects the specifics of human perception and cognition of the surrounding reality, occupies an important place. The study of object word-combinations as one of the key reflections of syntactic syntagmatic relations, contributes not only to the establishment of semantic connections of the combined verbs and nouns, but also to the understanding of the cognitive mechanisms of linguistic conceptualization and categorization of the world. Analysis of factual material from the National Corpus of the Russian language demonstrates that in speech contexts, the key lexeme-representative of the concept “persistence” can form object word-combinations with verbs belonging to different semantic groups. The study of their semantic characteristics allows us to reveal a number of cognitive features that characterize various semantic aspects of the concept “persistence”: “persistent striving to achieve the goal”, “hard work, tirelessness, consistency in work”, “fearlessness, endurance, patience, perseverance in a difficult situation”, “quality required for the implementation of various activities”, “acquired, grafted quality”, “quantitative characteristic or degree of manifestation of a property”, “quality or behavior that can bring positive results”, “quality or behavior that causes people to have positive ratings, positive feelings and emotions”, etc.
