Abstract. The article deals with the problem of similarities and differences between practical shooting as a sport and practical shooting as a military-applied and service-applied discipline. This problem had and has practical, even political significance, given the acute and ongoing competition between the Federation of bullet shooting and the Federation of practical shooting in Russia. What is mentioned in passing in the text of the article. It is this circumstance that determines the desire of the authors to analyze this topic in detail with the identification and description of three main groups of applied aspects of the application of practical shooter skills. The description of each group is accompanied by an explanation of the essence and a list of the most typical examples.

The difficult nature and depth of solving the problem are also determined by the fact that bullet and practical shooting, even as sports, have a fairly significant initial applied component, but not going beyond their sports and competitive practice, reflected in the relevant regulations for the organization and conduct of sports and specific competitions. Therefore, it is noted in the article, two levels of applied technical and tactical reserve should be taken into account: within and outside the redundancy of sports shooting training.

Keywords: practical shooting; sport; applied martial arts; similarities and differences; aspects of applied application
