Abstract. The article analyzes the materials of the study of the behavior, thinking, changes in life values of the younger generation.
Studying the ideological positions of the respondents, we saw that young people (15–17 years old) are oriented towards capitalism (33,3 %), with 16,7 % unanswered. Young people aged 18–19 and over 30 are oriented towards building a society that combines the best features of capitalism and the best features of socialism, 67,4 % and 44 %, respectively.
Respondents express the opinion that the country needs a «firm hand» that will restore order. In our opinion, this is a consequence of the awareness that in today’s difficult times, the presence of a «fifth column» and attempts to destabilize society is fraught with big problems. At the same time, in the minds of young people, we see the predominance of the personal over the public — and this is a natural 30-year result. Another alarming fact is that in the life attitudes of the younger generation, life comfort and success are possible, first of all, thanks to one’s own efforts, the ability to take risks, enterprise, but in the presence of the necessary conditions, which are: the ability to establish connections with the right people, wealth, money, acquaintances, pull. However, we note that, along with the continuity of the «old» values, in parallel comes the awareness of the need for, first of all, personal, active efforts. We also see that an important role in the attitudes of the respondents is given to education — not obtaining a diploma, but education. But today the respondents are at a crossroads: either a secure life, or creative, interesting work, profession. With a decrease in prestige and low pay for highly skilled labor, the choice may not be in favor of professional values.
