Abstract. Mongolian anthroponyms are a very rich layer of vocabulary that has its own characteristics, including such as the use of numerals as proper names. To date, Mongolian anthroponyms formed with the participation of numerals are numerous and specific. So, the main question of this article is what specific features exist in Mongolian numbering anthroponyms. To identify this specificity, in this article we investigated the principles of the formation of such units mainly using written materials. Our study showed that almost all Mongolian numbering anthroponyms include cardinal numerls. The general nomination features of the Mongolian numbering anthroponyms are characterized by such motivations as: (1) memorial naming; (2) desirable naming; (3) descriptive naming; (4) situational naming. A number of memorial names include proper names in honor of the age of senior family members. That is, the child is called the age of older family members. Desirable naming is the most popular motivation among the Mongolian numbering anthroponyms. There are 3 groups: names with happy auspices, names with the meaning of multiplicity, and names containing the wish for longevity. Descriptive names include names by weight of newborns and characteristic names. Situational names with a numeral in their composition are extremely rare. Such names are determined by the time of the birth of the child, or the date of birth falls on some record numbers, anniversary date or the first days of the year according to the lunar calendar.
