Abstract. The subject of the research in this article is the national mentality, some basic concepts of the national culture of Russians, Kyrgyz and Kalmyks. Each person’s view of the world is not the fruit of his own thoughts and experience. It is formed within the framework of already existing language concepts, which contain the experience of his ancestors, accumulated and recorded in the form of concepts. By studying these concepts, a person does not invent the world anew, but only tries to adapt the knowledge already acquired to his personal experience.

When studying a concept, the core of the concept is defined, and also peripheral zones are defined, which include associative and figurative fields that give additional information for the full disclosure of the concept. In our previous studies we considered lexical-semantic and paremiological representation of the concept «Friendship». To investigate the associative and figurative fields of the concept, an experiment, survey, questionnaire and other forms of obtaining information from the public are envisaged. To determine the associative and figurative fields of the concept «Friendship» a survey was conducted among representatives of Russian, Kyrgyz and Kalmyk nationalities with the participation of 82 people. The associative layer of the concept «Friendship» according to the results of the survey is represented by white and green colors. According to the results of the survey, the image of the concept «Friendship» can be a firm handshake, and a smile symbolizes friendship. The conducted survey confirms the position that friendship is a spiritual category of a person, its concept and criteria of evaluation have identities in many nations. Friendship is a value for all peoples and nations.
