Abstract. The article proposes an original approach to the comprehensive characterization of the linguomedia properties of news as the main type of media text in an online publication. Demonstrate that the linguistic features of the section represent only the substrate for the formation of linguomedia properties, while the proposed methodological basis for studying linguomedia properties is five level: analysis of composition, linguistic features, polycode nature, pragmatic aspect, and discourse. The study demonstrates that in the digital environment, text is transformed into a linguomedia construct, where linguistic and media components are in a synergistic relationship. During the analysis of the polycode structure of media texts, it was possible to identify the main stable models of interaction between verbal and visual codes. It was also revealed that modern media linguistics is developing interdisciplinarily, using the approaches and methodology of various fields of linguistic knowledge and related sciences: it relies on discourse analysis, cognitive linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, cultural studies, and journalism. The transformation of news discourse under the influence of internet technologies manifests itself in changes to the structural, stylistic, and substantive characteristics of news texts. Properties such as hypertextuality, interactivity, and multimedia are of particular importance, as they significantly expand the communicative potential of news. The material for analysis consisted of publications from the regional online portal «Glagol. Irkutsk Review», in particular, news articles from the regular section «Around Lake Baikal». The media texts for the study were selected using the continuous sampling method over a period of 6 months (from July 22, 2025, to January 22, 2026).
