Abstract. The study of Russian grammar through classical literary works is an important and effective approach in teaching Russian as a foreign language, as it promotes a deep, motivating, and comprehensive understanding of language norms and the development of linguistic and cultural competence. The relevance of this study lies in the fact that classical literature reflects the historical and cultural context of the Russian language, showcasing not only grammatical norms but also stylistic features, idiomatic expressions, and a rich vocabulary, which can improve the speech skills of non-native speakers and expand their knowledge of Russian culture. This article presents methodological developments based on the adapted text of Anton Chekhov’s short story «Dushechka». Based on this, exercises and tests have been created to help you reinforce the grammatical rules of the Russian language and develop your speaking skills. The article argues that studying grammar through text allows students to see real examples of the use of language forms in different contexts, which improves their reading, understanding, and use of the language in real-life situations. Additionally, the exercises developed and presented in this article provide theoretical material for both students and teachers. This approach to creating exercises based on literary works increases students’ interest in Russian literature and culture, as well as allows them to practice their grammar rules through real-life texts and communication situations. It is classical literary works that demonstrate the relationship between grammar and other language levels (vocabulary, phonetics, and stylistics), which helps to comprehensively learn the material rather than studying it in fragments.
