Abstract. This article examines the features of the use of verbs with an estimated meaning in the fictional work of Christopher Paolini «Eragon». Researchers from various fields are interested in the assessment category, however, the study of axiological predicates expressed by verbs is not sufficiently studied, so this topic interested us. We have considered the concepts of assessment of various scientists and philosophers, we took as a basis the definition of S.D. Pogorelova, since we consider it to be quite complete and understandable, accurately reflecting the most essential features of the assessment. We have studied the structural components of the assessment, characteristic of any assessment (subject of assessment, object of assessment, basis of assessment and the nature of the assessment) and illustrated with examples from our chosen work. We studied the classifications of assessments of such linguists as N.D. Arutyunova, G. von Wright, L.M. Vasilyeva. The definitions of the predicate and the verb were analyzed, the classifications of such authors as S.I. Ozhegov, N.D. Shvedova, D.N. Ushakova, L.G. Babenko, Y.D. Apresyan and settled on one classification, consisting of 27 classes of verbs (we paid special attention to the semantic feature of the verb). We looked at the selected verbs and analyzed them using class classification and for one element of the assessment — the nature of the assessment. The results of our research showed that the most common verbs are those of physical impact, and the least common are verbs. denoting natural phenomena. These results are explained by the genre of our chosen work by Christopher Paolini «Eragon», written in the genre of game fantasy. This work is characterized by the greatest use of action verbs (verbs of physical action, behavioral verbs, verbs of the physiological sphere).
