Abstract. The importance of Confucianism is very great not only in China, but all over the world. The ancient teachings of Confucius have stood the test of time and have remained relevant to this day. The interest in him is caused by his ethical and social orientation. The teachings of Confucius contain practical instructions on how a person should behave in nature, in the family, in society, and at work. For the first time in Russia, the teachings of Confucius began to be translated in the second half of the 18th century. Attention to the teaching remains to this day. The political transformations associated with the collapse of the USSR and the transition to a democratic model of government have actualized the theme of Confucianism as a practical mechanism for effective governance, harmonization of social relations and the development of the country. The achievements of the Chinese economy have suggested that the adoption of Confucian values as a guiding principle in government is an effective choice and contributes to the prosperity of society. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Institute of the Far East continued to study the Confucian heritage. At that time, translations of «Lun Yu» appeared, the authors of which were V.V. Malyavin, L.S. Perelomov, A.E. Lukyanov, employees of the Institute. Each of these researchers has contributed to the study and interpretation of Confucianism. The translations and comments of these researchers are of high scientific value. Also, translations of «Lun Yu» can be used in a social aspect, as the scientists themselves pointed out.
