Abstract. The article is carried out in terms of cultural linguistics and the theory of literary text. The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that in modern linguistic cultural studies there is an increased interest in the study of individual author’s concepts due to the insufficient number of works devoted to the study of individual author’s artistic pictures of the world. The article deals with the specifics of the individual authorial concept as a subject of linguistic cultural studies research; based on the theoretical analysis of modern works on this sphere, the conceptual notion of the study is introduced — the individual-author’s concept, approaches to the study of this phenomenon. It has been revealed that the conceptual issues in the study of fiction determine the emergence of an individual author’s concept as a complex mental formation that expresses the system of values and the specifics of the author’s worldview. As an example for the practical analysis, D. Cheever’s stories as a representative of the American short story writer are taken into account; his key individual author’s concepts have been established and expressed on the basis of the ideological content of the stories, literary analysis of the writer’s work. The item of the investigation is a subtext text fragment which directly or indirectly expresses the basic concept. The conceptual sphere of the writer reflects the main ideas and value priorities of the writer, forms his idiostyle and represents the author’s individual understanding of the key subjects of the stories. The use of figurative language means in stories serves as an effective way of reflecting a complex of additional semantic author’s meanings. The author’s system of values of the analyzed concepts is manifested in the identification of their meaningful features which determine the semantic logical structure of the text.
