Abstract. The formation of the anthropocentric paradigm in modern domestic and foreign science at the turn of the 20th–21st centuries proclaims the “speaking person” as a subject of knowledge and a subject of research in various aspects of related sciences. «Language personality» as a term of anthropocentrism reflects the speaker’s conscious attitude to language practice, his involvement and dependence on the socio-cultural and professionally oriented environment, the relationship in the language of the individual and the public. Despite numerous works on the development of the concept of linguistic personality in terms of diachrony and synchrony, there are certain gaps in the definition of this concept; there are no criteria for classifying linguistic personalities. The typology of linguistic personalities is conditional and subjectively depends on the scientific interests of researchers and the tasks set: gender, professional activity, level of language proficiency, and form of communication (oral, written, virtual). The purpose of this study is to study and analyze the linguistic personality of cadets of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs — ordinary police officers of Russia. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that there are few publications on this problem, and to this day there is no comprehensive study of the features of the lexicon of the cadet’s linguistic personality and the texts generated by this personality. The author puts forward the following hypothesis: the tendency towards vulgarization that has emerged in mass culture contributes to the blurring of the etymology of criminal jargon, changing its semantics in the process of transition to other subsystems of the Russian national language — colloquial speech, vernacular, professionally oriented communication, youth and cadet jargon. Changing the picture of the world contributes to the transformation of the cadet’s linguistic personality, because of this process, the verbalization of the concepts of the criminal environment is activated, and argotisms become functional for youth jargon and professionally oriented communication. At the beginning of the article, the author examines the theoretical provisions concerning the interpretation of the linguistic personality and identifies the features of the linguistic personality of students of the educational organization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Further, the author characterizes and differentiates the signs of slang and jargon and gives examples of text generation in the everyday communication of cadets using the vocabulary of criminal elements. The analysis of speech behavior of cadets is carried out, based on the results of a survey of respondents using the methods of continuous sampling, observation, description and introspection. The author comes to the following conclusions: the language personality of a cadet of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is a product of the influence of a socio-social and professionally oriented environment, consciously relating to their language practice. Under the influence of the socio-cultural and professionally oriented environment, the linguistic picture of the world and the linguistic personality of cadets are being transformed, which is confirmed by numerous examples of verbal communication of cadets. This study contributes to the development of the concept of linguistic personality and contributes to a comprehensive study of the linguistic personality of a cadet of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
