Prospects of ensuring ecological safety by means of art

Abstract. The human has always tried to define and comprehend his place in the world, which in the modern context has led to an active appeal to the authors of the XXI century, artists, writers to topics related to environmental problems. A new genre of contemporary art – ecological art was formed. However, the roots of the ecological motive in art can be traced from ancient times to the present day. In this regard, the authors set the direction of cultural studies of works of art and practices, in order to identify potential opportunities to ensure ecological safety by means of art.
The general analysis of opportunities of education and increase of ecological culture of the population by means of art is carried out. Some aspects of ecological safety expressed by means of painting and literature are considered.
The aesthetic content and perception of the term «ecological safety» at various levels, from global ecological safety to ecological safety of the soul are revealed. It is shown that the need for protection of nature is manifested in the works of painting, literature and dance art.
The potential of dance art in ensuring ecological safety through the formation of each person’s respect for nature is considered. The problem of disclosure of potential possibilities of dance art in terms of indirect influence on the degree of ecological safety was considered and the first attempt to solve it was made. The role of dance rhythms in the audience’s aesthetic perception of choreographers artistic ideas is noted.
The emphasis is placed on the fact that the potential of cultural studies can effectively make a significant contribution to environmental safety in various fields.
