Abstract. The article deals with the features of the idea of happiness in the work by A.I. Sofronov-Alamp, the Yakut writer, poet and playwright. You can learn the history, literature, culture, worldview of the ethnic group through the prism of folk writers. The category of happiness is present in any culture, but, according to the author, its content is filled with different meanings, depending on the attitude of the people. In many works of A.I. Sofronov the problem of happiness and unhappiness, good and evil, conscience and justice is a red thread; they reflect the fatalistic view of the Sakha people on the phenomenon of happiness. The basic idea of A.I. Sofronov’s works are that no happiness without unhappiness (d’ol ikki sor ikki argystaha syld’allar), It is an ill wind that blows nobody good, crying without laughter (kuhagan dagany uchugei suokh, ytyyr dagany kulyyte suokh buolbat). In search of happiness, heroes commit crimes, step over their conscience, values accumulated by mankind for centuries. They learn from their mistakes, repent of what they have done, and understand what is true of human happiness. They find their happiness not in wealth and material well-being, but in the family, in children, in peace and harmony, in love and trust. A.I. Sofronov recreates the world of artistic images, national life, describes the life and fate of the Sakha people using stylistic figurative possibilities of the Yakut language, folk proverbs, sayings, myths, legends and ethnographic realities.

Keywords: language picture of the world; happiness; national character; Yakut language; wealth; family; children
