Abstract. The article is part of a dissertation study of the pronominal system of the even language. The article analyzes the problems and principles of classification of substitutive words in the tungus-manchu languages and in the even language. Determining the grammatical status and classification of substitute words is a problem that grammarians solve according to their attitude to the principles of separating pronominal words as a significant part of speech. In linguistics, there are two main approaches to classifying pronominatives: (1) semantic, which considers the semantic categories of pronouns, and (2) grammatical principle in accordance with the categorical correlation of pronouns with other parts of speech. To classify pronouns according to the formal-grammatical principle, either functional (by substituted words) or morphological features are considered.

The author notes the predominance in most studies of tungus-мanchu languages of the semantic principle of classification of pronominal words, i.e. the distribution of personal, reflexive, possessive, demonstrative, interrogative, relative, indefinite, negative and other pronouns. Depending on the categorical meaning of «substantiality», «attribution» or «feature of the subject» and the correlation with the words of the corresponding parts of speech in the even language, the author identifies these groups of pronouns: substantive, adjectival, adverbial pronouns, pronouns-numerals and verbs with the substitution semantics.

Keywords: Tungus-Manchu languages; even language; grammatical class of words; pronominal system; pronoun; semantic categories of pronominal words; formal-grammatical classification of pronominal words
