Abstract. This article presents the results of a comparative, structural-semantic, componential, and linguacultural analysis, as well as a denotative description of over 50 Russian and Armenian phraseological units containing the sun component (արև/արեգակ) based on dictionaries of phraseological units, proverbs, and sayings. The author also examined the context of use of these phraseological units in the Eastern Armenian National Corpus and the Russian National Corpus.

The relevance of this work stems from the increased interest in modern linguistics in studying the relationship between language, including its phraseological stock, and culture. The choice of phraseological units with this component is justified by the fact that the image of the sun, as the most important part of the universe, plays a significant role in the linguistic categorization of the world among all peoples. The purpose of this article is to identify the specific ways in which the Russian and Armenian peoples view reality.

The first comprehensive analysis of phraseological units containing this component allowed us to draw conclusions about their semantic content, linguistic and cultural characteristics, and structural features, as well as their emotional connotations.

It was established that in both languages, these phraseological units are an important element of cultural identity, but their use and meaning vary depending on national traditions and worldviews.
