Functional characteristics of polythemes as a way of constructing a linguistic picture of the world (based on a french media text)

Abstract. The article examines the functions of political topics that are used to construct the political situation in the French political media text. In research in the field of political linguistics, carried out from the position of a functional-semantic approach, a relationship was identified between the targeted use of polytopes and the construction of a linguistic picture of the world in the addressee, according to which the functional characters of polytopes in a text statement are a way of constructing a political linguistic picture of the world and determine the degree of correspondence between the political situation and reality and linguistic car-tina formed in the addressee’s mind that is, they influence the formation of public opinion. The continuation of this direction of research determines the relevance of this article.

The study allows us to state that when implementing the three main functions of lexical units that make up the class of political vocabulary, in the French political media text the most frequent functions are secondary nomination and axiological assessment. The formation of a modal axiological framework when constructing a political situation is carried out through both explicit and implicit evaluation functions. When using the listed functions of political topics in the French political media text, an implicit assessment of the ideology that makes up the content of the activities of political power in Russia is implemented. Such an assessment constitutes a subtext that replaces the denotative representation of the linguistic picture of the political situation and is a way of constructing a distorted political situation, which is presented as its information message about the event that constitutes the political situation.
