Humanitarian culture in the structure of General culture

Abstract. The author presents the analysis of the phenomenon of humanitarian culture in the works of foreign scientists: A. Molya, M.S. Kagan, E.S. Markarian, A.I. Arnoldov, I.M. Oreshnikov, E.N. Shiyanov.

The article reflects the results of studying the positions of philosophers and culturologists on the problem of functioning of humanitarian culture in the structure of modern culture. Analysis of the positions of leading scientists has led to the conclusion that humanitarian culture: the sphere of socioregulative level of General culture; component of spiritual culture; culture of anthropocentric type. It is in antagonism with rational and technical culture; it functions at both social and individual-personal levels; has specific characteristics (human knowledge and psychological characteristics of people, their produce and carrying out humanitarian activities); multi-level phenomenon (in the structure of human culture stands out the socio-humanitarian and individual humanitarian levels); in the structure of the individual’s culture functions as a subtype of the «culture of the erudite».

Thus, in modern science, humanitarian culture is recognized as a specific type of culture, different from other cultural phenomena. Studies of the problem of humanitarian culture by philosophers and culturologists are few and insufficient. Allocation of the phenomenon of humanitarian culture allowed to consider it as a component of the General culture of the person and to transfer researches in the field of pedagogical science. In the conditions of insufficient development of the methodological apparatus there was a situation requiring systematization of accumulated knowledge. This will make it possible to continue the study of humanitarian culture at a qualitatively new level, defining more clearly the place of humanitarian culture in the General cultural context.
