Abstract. This article defines the research potential of medical tourism in a cultural context. It emphasizes that, in assessing the status and development prospects of this type of tourism, in addition to the basic parameters (medical services, modern technologies and equipment, etc.), it is necessary to consider cultural characteristics, ethnocultural preferences, and the mentality of medical consumers, as well as the willingness of medical institutions to meet client needs, including in terms of cultural comfort.

The cultural context of medical tourism, which remains poorly understood, opens up even broader prospects for interaction between patients and medical institutions, leading to the development of more effective marketing strategies, which ultimately impacts not only the industry as a whole but also the strengthening of intercultural ties based on the principle of complementarity and solidarity.

Medical tourism, viewed from this perspective, emerges as a complex phenomenon that encompasses not only the choice of a clinic and doctor, but also deep immersion in a new sociocultural and/or ethnocultural environment. In other words, it is a purposeful movement of a person to obtain medical services, influenced by their cultural values, traditions, beliefs, and social context.

This article proposes a set of methods for conducting sociological measurements of the cultural context of medical tourism.

Keywords: medical tourism; models of medical tourism; cultural context of medical tourism; ethnocultural aspects of medical tourism
